DoubleTree by Hilton Battle Creek is seeking a dedicated and skilled Lead Cook to join our Culinary Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in hospitality by supporting the Culinary Leadership in delivering an outstanding guest experience.

Responsibilities: Coordinate and expedite food production to ensure timely service and consistency in food quality and presentation. Prepare all food items according to recipe standards and proper handling procedures. Maintain the highest quality and appearance of all food sent from the kitchen, ensuring plates are clean, appetizing, and visually appealing. Collaborate with the Chef to plan and execute menus. Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service. 

Training & Development: Train newly hired line and prep cooks on Hilton standards and local, state, and federal guidelines. Oversee and coordinate production charts and requisition procedures. 

Safety & Compliance: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently. Assist in implementing safety procedures in line with OSHA and 6PM Hospitality Partners standards. Inspect daily shift-ending cleanup and hold team members accountable for maintaining cleanliness and organization. 

Problem-Solving: Address and resolve kitchen-related issues promptly. Adapt to changing circumstances and make real-time decisions to maintain efficiency.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a line cook, with fine dining experience preferred.

Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership and coordination skills. Quality-focused with attention to detail. Adaptability and ability to thrive under pressure. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Stress Load: Regular exposure to stresses related to service demands.

Workload Fluctuation: Must adapt to varying workloads.

Physical Effort: Prolonged standing, transporting materials, and lifting/moving items over 30 pounds.

Environment: Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and temperature extremes. Working surfaces may be unlevel, slippery, or unstable.

Ergonomic Risks: Regular repetitive tasks, prolonged exertions, and heavy lifting.

Safety Risks: Potential for cuts, burns, exposure to chemicals, and other occupational hazards.
